Saturday on the Farm

We spent yesterday morning celebrating cousin Sam's fifth birthday at Heritage Farmstead in Plano. If you haven't visited, I couldn't recommend it more!!

The boys had such a wonderful time learning about the farm and experimenting with different chores children their age would have been expected to do. It was a great experience for Jacob to explore and he loved running around the farm and seeing all the animals!!

While the older boys got to milk the "cow", Jacob was mostly interested in touching the cow to see if it was real!

What a fun-filled day it was! After all of the farm activities, we had lunch and then cake. By the end of the morning, Jacob was wet (from his laundry duties), dirty, and exhausted! He enjoyed a nice bath before a looong nap!
Happy Birthday, Sammy!

First Day of School

Well, it's been quite a busy couple of weeks in the Cox house, hence the lack of posts! This past Tuesday, Jacob started "school"! I got a wonderful job teaching Pre-K at a Mother's Day Out program, which means that Jacob also attends. We spent several weeks preparing the room and lesson plans, not to mention getting all the necessary supplies for our little man! Part of me was sad to drop him off for the day, but his teachers are so sweet and he's just down the hall from my room! It truly is the best job, we get to church at around 8:15, Jake plays in my room until 8:45 and I pick him up at 2! He has so much fun playing on the playground, doing crafts, having music time, eating lunch, and taking a nap with his new friends. The best thing is, it's only twice a week so we still have lots of time to play together!

One of my main purchases for this year was a backpack and matching lunch box for Jacob. He loves stuffing the bag with all of his belongings and I loooove that is has his name on the front!! Each day, he brings a full lunch along with the softest blanket ever from PBK and his beloved Lovie, both of which make for a cozy nap at school.

It truly has been such a blessing to work with great people, go to a job that I really enjoy and best of all doesn't take away from time with my favorite little guy!

Jacob's First Church Craft

Today was promotion Sunday at church, which meant that Jacob got to go to a new classroom. He has become such a big boy! So big, in fact, that he didn't even look back when we dropped him off, he just took off towards the toys and blocks. When we picked him up after service, we learned that he had gone outside to play and also had played in the playroom. This is the first time he's been able to do either of those things and we're so glad that church is beginning to be more fun now that he's out of the "baby" rooms! It wasn't until later this afternoon that it really hit me how big he's getting... I was going through his bag and found this, Jacob's very first church craft!! It truly touched my heart that this period of time has begun for him. A time that he will hear Bible stories and truths and hear from people other than us how much God loves him! What a blessing!!

A Lazy Afternoon and a New Trick

Daddy had a meeting at church this afternoon, so Mommy and Jacob decided to do a few fun projects at the kitchen table.
Jacob loved decorating a shaker filled with pasta with crayons and colorful stickers. He had even more fun marching around the house using his shaker to make beautiful music!!

He looked like such a big boy sitting at the kitchen table working on his craft!
Next, Jacob got to play in some flour that Mommy put on a cookie sheet. He wasn't so sure about it at first, but really got into it after Mommy showed him what to do! He loved squishing his hands in the powdery flour and really made quite a mess!

While Mommy was cleaning up the kitchen, Jacob decided to show her a new trick. He's always been quite a climber, but had never climbed into his highchair before. It usually has the tray attached, but since he had been sitting at the kitchen table, Mommy had taken it off. Each time Mommy took Jacob out of the seat, he just crawled right back in, faster each time! What a silly little boy.

Happy Birthday Brady!

Jacob helped celebrate his cousin Brady's second birthday yesterday. Brady is exactly four months older than Jacob and will be 2 on the 22nd. Brady's party was a beach theme, with all sorts of fun activities for the kids to participate in! Jacob just looooves going to his cousins' house and playing and had so much fun with everyone!

One of Jacob's favorite toys at his cousins' house in the roller coaster. He loves it!!

Splashing with the big boys.

After a little bit of warming up, Jacob got brave enough to try out the water slide. He loved it and wanted to go down it over and over again! Luckily Poppa was there to catch him because he wasn't so sure about ending up in the pool of water.

Boys will be boys...

Jacob loves to swing with Mim!

Sitting at the table like a big boy, Jacob enjoyed his very first juice box!
