FINALLY a Monogram
It's no secret that I love personalized and/or monogramed things. When we were planning Jacob's room, I ordered several personalized pieces for his walls, as well as monogramed clothing. For some reason, I had a hard time finding personalized items for Jonah's room until recently. PBK had some great nautical accents, including this great anchor plaque complete with monogram! It was a no-brainer and I ordered it instantly! It looks so cute in Jonah's nursery and I'm so happy to finally have something with his monogram!!

Jonah's Nursery
Other than a few little touches here and there, Jonah's nursery is just about finished! When we found out we were having another boy, I was concerned that the nursery would end up looking too much like Jacob's. I was also concerned because I've always absolutely loved Jacob's room and wanted to make sure I loved Jonah's just as much!! After months of planning and purchasing, I think we've created a colorful and cozy room to spend time with our little boy!
Doctor's Visit!!
Jonah visited Dr. Frank for the first time this morning! It's hard to believe that one week ago today we were in the hospital, awaiting his arrival!! He truly is such a sweet baby boy. He is eating well and sleeps GREAT! We usually do a late feeding around 11 or 11:30 then get up around 3 for another feeding and by the time he is ready for the third feeding, it's time to wake up! I certainly can't complain about only having to wake up once in the middle of the night!
When Jacob was teeny-tiny, we borrowed a bassinet from a friend. This time around, we purchased a co-sleeper for Jonah and I LOVE it! I have it right up next to the bed, so I can roll over and see him, or reach in give him some love! He has started to take a pacifier here and there, and the co-sleeper is also great to be able to give it back to him when it falls out! I am definitely starting to feel better and can FINALLY pick him up out of the co-sleeper! During the day, we mostly stay upstairs, in bed since I am still recovering. I make a little cozy spot for Jonah in the middle of the bed with a soft blanket, burp cloth under his head (just in case!) and then he gets covered in another soft blanket. He absolutely loves it and I love being so close to him!!
Here are Jonah's one week stats:
Weight: 6 lbs. 1 oz (6%)- almost up to his birth weight!!!
Length: 20 in. (46%)
Head Circum: 13 1/4 in. (10%)

Coming Home
After four nights in the hospital, it was time to take our little guy home and reunite our sweet little family!! We definitely had mixed emotions because we were ready to come home, but had gotten used to the routines and help we had at the hospital! We were most definitely ready to see Jacob and have the two brothers finally under one roof!

We were greeted with a sweet sign made by Jacob, Mim and Poppa! What a wonderful surprise to come home to!!
Jonah's Birth Story
You all know by now that we had a scheduled induction on Monday, April 9th (38 weeks) due to kidney stones. Even though things were planned out much more than spontaneously going into labor, they didn't really turn out the way we expected!
Nathan dropped off Jacob at school and we arrived at Presby Plano around 7:45. We realized soon after our arrival that directly across the hall were Tony Romo and his wife having their baby boy. We didn't dare stare or say anything, but it was certainly interesting to know we were among celebrities!
The nurses at Presby Plano were fantastic. I got pitocin and my epidural a little after nine o'clock and my obgyn came to break my water at around 10am. When I came into the hospital that morning, I was dilated 2cm and about 75% effaced. I was really encouraged that this was going to go quickly, but the Lord had different plans! Nathan and I enjoyed a quiet day in L&D, just resting, watching TV, and talking. Things were moving VERY slowly and by 5pm or so I was discouraged. My progress was very slow and in fact, I was only 6cm dilated the last time they checked me, probably around 6pm.
My night nurse arrived at 7pm and we noticed that with each and every contraction, Jonah's heart rate was dropping. This also happened with Jacob, so at first, I wasn't too worried. Then I began to see how severely his heart rate actually dropped. I tried to really breath through the contractions (even though I couldn't feel them) to help him out, but it didn't seem to work. I also started to run a bit of a fever, which was a concern because at that point, my water had been broken for quite a long time. The nurse and my obgyn really felt like there was something else going on, a reason why Jonah wasn't descending into the birth canal. After a brief conversation, we decided to do a c-section to get that baby out!
As soon as we called my parents, my mom headed up to the hospital while my dad stayed home with Jacob (who was already in bed). She made it just in time to see me wheeled out of the OR. I really wasn't scared at all and knew that God had a perfect plan. Again, the nurses and doctors were fantastic and made me feel well at ease. Nathan arrived and the doctors began!
Jonah made his arrival at 8:54 pm and he was just the tiniest little thing! The first time I saw him, he was peeing everywhere (such a typical Cox man!!). It was amazing to hear him crying and screaming while they worked on him and I couldn't believe my precious little boy was here! I am so deeply thankful for modern medicine and how healing it can be! Jonah did have the cord wrapped around his neck, which was not allowing him to get through the contractions and come naturally. I am so thankful that we were able to get him here safe and sound.
Jonah and Nathan headed back to the room while I was taken care of. That night was overwhelming and beautiful. I couldn't believe Jonah was here and just couldn't wrap my mind around the course of the day.
Now we're home and recovering nicely. Jonah is a great sleeper and is truly an easy, sweet baby boy! I am in quite a bit of pain, but I'm really trying to stay on top of my pain medications and get plenty of rest. Nathan will take Monday off from work (we have Jonah's follow up with our pedi that morning) but will be back at work the remainder of the week. Please pray for all of us, that we will have the energy to enjoy one another and that I will continue to heal and love this time with my boys!!

Happy Easter!!
This year's Easter was definitely unconventional for the Cox family, but still so wonderful! Due to bed rest, we weren't able to go to church this morning but we did enjoy a nice, quiet morning at home. Jacob was up early (as always!) and was so excited when I told him it was Easter morning! He came downstairs to find the eggs hidden around as well as his basket filled to the brim with all sorts of goodies!
With his birthday and Christmas so close together, Easter is a great time for the "Easter Bunny" to get a few new toys for Jacob! They were all a big hit!!
One of Jacob's favorite toys was the game Hungry Hungry Hippo! He spent most of remainder of the day playing either with Mommy, Daddy, or alone!

The house was full with all six cousins present as well as Grandaddy and CiCi! Luckily, we were able to enjoy the egg hunt before the rain came!

Easter Eggs!!
Jacob has been so excited for Easter this year! As he gets older, holidays just get more and more fun! He has been talking about the Easter bunny and egg hunts for weeks now, so it's fun to finally enjoy some of those activities! Unfortunately, our church didn't have the Eggstravaganza this year, but we're trying to make up for it with plenty of fun activities at home. This is our last weekend of just the three of us, so it's even more incentive to do some special things together.
Of course, Jacob was so excited about yellow, his favorite color!!

Cutest. Diapers. Ever
The diapers I ordered from The Honest Company arrived this afternoon and I couldn't be happier! First off, they are absolutely TINY but also come in the cutest prints! I have been reading up on the company and the diapers for a few weeks and was excited to finally place my order earlier this week. I was also sent the skull and crossbone diapers, but they aren't really my style and I probably won't reorder that print in the future. Each month, a new shipment of diapers and wipes arrives on your doorstep, all you need to do is make sure the settings in your account are updated and you change the size you need. The diapers are 100% non-toxic, chlorine free, sustainable and biodegradable. I look forward to trying them out on our little guy and am hoping they work well also!!

Muffin Man
With one week to go before Jonah's arrival, Jacob and I enjoyed some mommy/son time in the kitchen! He loved using his kitchen tools he received at Christmas, if only he'd actually eat the muffins!
