The Nursery is Finished!!!

I know, I know. Jacob is five weeks old and we're just now posting pictures of his completed nursery! We have been waiting on one final item for his shelves above his changing table before posting pictures and it arrived in the mail today!!

It's hard to believe that when we moved into our home, this room had pink and white gingham wall paper below the chair rail and green paint above. As soon as we found out we were having a boy, we just knew our nursery would have to be a baseball theme. Courtney's compromise was that it was a tasteful, non-themey baseball theme!!! The nursery has turned out to be a wonderful, warm and cozy place to spend time with our little one that we hope he'll enjoy for a long time.

Happy One Month Birthday!!!

I can hardly believe that my little boy is one month old today! In one way, it seems like just yesterday and in another, it feels like ten years! The birthday boy had a pretty relaxed birthday filled with sleeping, eating, and pooping. He also played a little on his mat and in his swing.

Each month, we'll be taking a picture of Jacob in a 12 month sized onesie to see how he grows. This month was pretty funny since he's such a little peanut! Jacob is officially 8 pounds 8 ounces today, almost two pounds bigger than when he was born! Unfortunately, he's still too little for his 0-3 month clothing and is still wearing newborn clothes!

Chillin' in his nursery.

Strange to think that one day, this will fit!!

Bath Time!!!

Tonight, we gave Jacob his first bath in the baby bath tub. We had just been giving him sponge baths, but now his belly button is completely healed and he gets to move up in the world! Jacob was a little unsure to begin with (as you can see!), but began splashing around with his little legs until we got to the part where we wash his hair, his least favorite part of bath time.

He's a very modest baby!!

Warm and happy.

Just a few seconds later!

Trip to the Mall

Since Dad was off work today, we decided to go for a little trip to the mall to get some errands taken care of. It was Jacob's first trip there and he sure enjoyed looking around at everyone. He also got to ride in his stroller for the first time, but as you can see he wasn't sure what to think of it, and wanted to be out looking around.

Tummy Time

While Dad was stuck working, Mom and Jacob got to have some fun with Tummy Time at the house. He seems to have fun with it for a little while, but gets mad when he tries to look around.

Baby Dedication

Today was a special day for us, as we stood in front of our friends and family at church and dedicated Jacob. It was such a blessing to have all of our family present that live in the area, as well as Courtney's Grandmother from Missouri. We were also able to share this time with some good friends of ours from our class at church, the Harrison's with their son Bren.

After church we had all of our family (both sides) over to our house for lunch. It was a fun time to visit with everyone and let all the grandparents get some time with Jacob. After everyone left, Jacob and Dad spent some quality time watching some playoff football on the couch, but Jacob was pretty upset when the Cowboys lost. But he was OK with it, since he is going to be more of a Mavs/Rangers fan anyway, just like Dad.

3 Weeks Old

It's hard to believe that Jacob is already 3 weeks old, and hard to believe that it's only been 3 weeks, if that makes sense! He has had an exciting last few weeks since we last posted something here. He has met lots of new friends: Carson Cooley, Emory Dess, Bren Harrison, Hollis Guerry, Finley Carnahan, and Natalie Fenn.

He also got to meet all of his cousins for the first time. It was fun seeing all of the boys together on the Finkelstein side before cousin Sam had to go home to Chicago, and it was cute seeing Kaya get to hold him (very carefully!) when she first met him as well.

So far Jacob has been sleeping much better at night. There are some rough nights for sure, but once he is asleep, he is pretty mcuh out for about 3 hours, which gives us lots of time to rest and get stuff done around the house. He also has gotten to go on lots of fun trips, like to the mall, and to Best Buy with Dad while Mom got some much needed rest at home!
