Fireman Jake

Jacob received a firetruck ball pit for Christmas that has been quite a hit in the Cox house! He has had a blast playing and in fact, it's been quite hard for us to get anything else done because he always wants to play and roll around in it!

Of course, Daddy had to get in on the fun!

Goofing around!

Flashback Friday

Bubbles!

April 2008

January 2010

Ever since we began a bedtime routine that included a bath (around six weeks), Jacob has loved bubble baths! While most bubble baths are not recommended for use with babies and toddlers, we have always loved California Baby. It is completely safe for newborns and does not contain SLS or DEA. The scents are deliciously natural and the Cold and Flu bubble bath is wonderful to help unclog stuffy noses and bring relief to achy muscles!

Please and Thank You

Over the past several weeks, Nathan and I have really been working with Jacob to say "please" and "thank you". Afterall, manners never go out of style!

I must say, Jacob has done so well learning "please" and "thank you" and nowadays rarely has to be prompted!

The Wall of Jacob

This wall, which is located upstairs between Jacob's room and "the green room", has been a work in progress for the past few months. We just put the finishing touch on, Jacob's two year picture.
During Jacob's first year, we had pictures taken every three months and subsequently began collecting storyboards from each photo shoot. I wondered what we would do with these adorable pictures and decided to create the wall. It has grown steadily as we added Jacob's 18 month pictures and now the 2 year photo.
I absolutely love how the wall has turned out, which is just a fluke! When hanging the pictures, I really didn't have any rhyme or reason, but I think it turned out incredibly well. The frames aren't exactly alike, but they don't need to be in this case. They are all black with white mats, which pulls them all together.
We're done with professional pictures for the next year, but after that I'm not sure what we'll do! Not to mention the fact that at some point we'll have another child and have to either include them on the wall or give them their own wall altogether. We could end up running out of walls! For the time being, I'm quite pleased and enjoy the pictures each time I walk into or out of Jacob's room. He has even enjoyed the pictures and often waves "Night night" to baby Jacob!

Jacob just LOVES to draw and paint on the easel he got from Mim and Poppa!

Caught!

Jacob and I stayed home today from MDO because I've been sick for the past few days. His lunch was all packed and ready to go on the kitchen counter (ready for lunchtime at home I suppose!). After a few minutes away from me, I walked into the kitchen to find the sight below...I guess he's tall enough to reach on top of the counters now! He had a grand 'ole time digging into his favorite Veggie Booty!

Two Year Pictures

A few weeks ago we met Auntie Catherine near the Frisco Heritage Museum for Jacob's two year photos. It's was a beautiful and clear morning, but freezing cold! Jacob was such a trooper and LOVED seeing the steamtrain and caboose upclose and personal! Of course, we had to bring along Jacob's best friend, Puppy, who made an appearance in several of the photos.
Here are just a few of our favorite pictures. Enjoy!

Our Big Boy!

The fact that Jacob is no longer a baby has become quite clear to us lately. I suppose he'll always be our baby, which we can take great comfort in! He is growing and learning each and every day and it's just a joy to experience!
Now that he's two, Jacob's vocabulary is really expanding and he's beginning to put words into simple sentences. He knows all of his shapes and looooves finding the sun and moon in books! Jacob has really started to enjoy singing songs like "Twinkle, twinkle" and "The B-I-B-L-E" and now eats dinner at the table with Momma and Daddy! The most impressive thing Jacob has done recently is to go pee-pee in the potty! We don't feel that he's completely ready to potty train, but each night before bath he sits on the big potty and we have a little celebration! We know that as the weeks and months progress he'll continue to learn more and we are just having so much fun on this journey together!

Sitting at the table like a big boy!

Happy New Year from the Naked Chef!

We hope everyone had a healthy and happy New Year! We're still trying to wrap our heads around the fact that it's twenty-ten!
Our little family had a nice, quiet New Year's Eve spent at Uncle Andy and Auntie Catherine's house. Jacob enjoyed lots of playtime with Cousin Brady and even had a special celebratory dinner of Captain Crunch cereal (hey, it was a holiday!).
One of Jacob's favorite toys from Santa is his new blue kitchen. He'll run to it and yell "Cook! Cook!". It's really the cutest thing! He also has a new trick, taking off his clothes, and has gotten quite stealthy at it! On more than one occasion, we'll go in his room to get him up in the morning and there he'll be, in just his diaper with pjs discarded on the floor!
So...from our "Naked Chef" to you-may this new year bring joy, laughter, and peace!
