Happy Halloween!
Jacob was so very excited about Halloween this year! He helped Mommy pick out his costume weeks ago and we started reading books about Halloween at the beginning of October. He just couldn't wait to go to his cousin's house to have a little party and then trick-or-treat together!
Lucy had to get in on the fun!

Jacob loves to go trick-or-treating with Mim and Poppa!
Jacob really "got" Halloween and trick-or-treating this year. He loved going door to door and visiting with everyone (literally, he wanted to have a conversation with everyone that opened the door!). Jacob even became brave enough to venture to the houses all by himself and was so excited to bring home lots of candy!!

Undy 5000
In honor of Grandmommy, the Cox family gathered this morning at White Rock Lake to run in the Undy 5000. Today was her birthday and we felt it fitting that we all take part in this event to raise money and awareness about colon cancer. Both of Nathan's brothers were in town and while it was a bit chilly (notice the layers on Jacob), it was a great way to spend the morning!

Fall Festival
Last night we had a great time at our church's annual Fall Festival (even after an exhausting day of teaching third graders!!). This year, the theme was "Once Upon a Time" so all of the booths were children's books themes, right up my alley! Jacob was so excited to finally dress up in his Triceratops costume and had so much fun with his friends playing games, going in bounce houses and even going on a little train ride with daddy!

Jacob is obsessed with bounce houses of all shapes and sizes, so naturally we spent much of our evening trying all the different ones out!! It's even better when you get a piece of candy just for having a great time!

Chex Mix
The boys in my house are absolutely obsessed with Chex Mix. Not the stuff in the bag from the grocery store, but the recipe on the side of the Corn Chex box. We seriously go through a batch in a matter of days. Needless to say, I try to keep it in the house on a minimal basis due to the not-so-healthy factor and to make it more special when I actually do make it. For some strange reason, once the temperature begins to drop, I'm more inclined to making Chex Mix.
These days, Jacob loves to help in the kitchen. He loves to measure and stir, so I decided to put him to work! The hardest part is waiting for the mix to cool before having a snack!

Big Orange Pumpkin Farm
Today we made our annual visit to the Big Orange Pumpkin Farm in Celina. It was an absolutely gorgeous day and and great way to spend a Saturday morning!
We kept the trip a surprise and as soon as we pulled up, Jacob got so excited about farm animals. Little did he know there were more activities to look forward to!!
Daddy and Jacob at the entrance. Jacob couldn't wait to get down and start exploring!
Last year, Jacob was afraid to feed the animals, but really enjoyed it this time! He loved feeding the longhorns especially!
Next up were the goats! Instead of letting them eat out of his cup, Jacob wanted to feed them one little bite at a time!

A Cozy Spot
We have an antique crib from the Cox family that dates back to the early 20th century. It used to hold various toys/stuffed animals in the playroom before Jacob was old enough to really play in there and we didn't have many toys. It now resides in our guest bedroom with a few special animals, such as my Teddy that is now 30 years old. (that was scary to type!)
This morning Jacob and I were playing upstairs and he decided he needed to rest. He went to his room and got his pillow and blanket and proceeded to climb in the ancient crib! He stayed there for some time just cuddling with a teddy bear and saying how cozy he was. Can I just say, I looove it when he uses the word "cozy"???

Row, row, row your boat
We spent Saturday at Grandaddy and CiCi's lake house on Lake Whitney. The highlight of the daytrip was a ride on a boat Grandaddy had gotten for a few hours. Nathan and I weren't quite sure of how Jacob would do since he had never been on a boat before, but the weather was absolutely gorgeous and we just couldn't pass up such a great experience!
The motor took a bit of getting used to, but Jacob eventually uncovered his ears and enjoyed the cool breeze on the lake!
Our windblown little family enjoying an afternoon on the lake.
For the first bit of the ride, Jacob was glued to my side and holding on for dear life. Pretty soon, he got comfortable on the boat and then wanted to run around. Of course, we had to keep hold of him for fear he'd go off the side. Thank goodness for the handle on his life vest!!
All in all, we had a wonderful time and it was a great way to spend a beautiful fall afternoon!
First Day of School!
Jacob was so excited to start school today! He'll begin in the "Get Set" program and then when he turns 3 in December (how is that possible???) he'll move up to the Preschool room.
We've spent the last week gathering and purchasing everything he'll need for school as well as talking about school and the new friends he's going to make. While it was strange to drop him off and give kisses goodbye, I know he's going to have so much fun!
