Happy Thanksgiving!

With both of my siblings out of town, I offered to host an intimate Thanksgiving meal.  My first Thanksgiving to host included our little family of four, Mim, Poppa, Grandaddy and CiCi.  I was so grateful that I wasn't in charge of every dish, my mom and CiCi both contributed wonderful food we all enjoyed and it certainly took some pressure off me!  Nathan and I were in charge of turkey (quite a daunting task, I might add), mashed potatoes, gravy, rolls and pumpkin pie.  We ordered a fresh turkey from Whole Foods in order to avoid the whole thawing debacle as well as the gravy (one less thing on my to do list!).  I used Pioneer Woman's mashed potato recipe that I was able to make Wednesday (couldn't recommend it more!), Nathan's family's Grandmommy Rolls (super simple and yummy!) and rounded it out with my first homemade pumpkin pie, crust and all.  The pie crust didn't turn out as I'd hoped (my need for perfectly crimped crust did not happen) but it was delicious!
Jonah napped for the entire Thanksgiving meal but woke up in plenty of time for lots of play with the grandparents.  Poor Jacob was the lone child and was definitely in need of a little buddy!  We all ate, relaxed, visited and enjoyed our holiday together.  It was truly a wonderful way to spend the day!
I am so thankful for my hubby, sweet boys, and all of my family!!!

We had great success with Martha Stewart's Turkey 101!  We soaked cheesecloth in melted butter and white wine and draped it on the turkey for the first portion of roasting.

The delicious sides.  Yum!

I couldn't resist the matching...

The wishbone!  Jacob won and wished for donuts for breakfast on Friday!
