Chilly Morning at the Zoo

I love our zoo membership. It makes a trip to the zoo so stress free and cheap! For the price of lettuce to feed the giraffes (more on that later), we can spend a morning at the zoo and not worry about "getting our money's worth".
Jacob and I have thoroughly enjoyed our days together during Thanksgiving break and I am so very thankful to have such a great job that allows me to have plenty of time with my favorite little guy. On Tuesday, we met up with some dear friends at the zoo for a morning of fun, even though it was a bit chilly and dreary (I'll take it over 100 degree temps any day!). We arrived at the zoo promptly at 9 am in order to beat the dollar day crowds (the zoo was overflowing with police and security!) and were able to avoid the mayhem. We stayed for a little over an hour and a half and were able to see pretty much all of the main attractions in the zoo. As we left, we noticed that the lines were growing longer and the zoo was becoming more crowded, the perfect time to make our escape!
Jacob had so much fun visiting all of his animal friends and really enjoyed time with Anna and Joey! After lunch, it was time to get home and he took a three hour nap. Woo-hoo!!

The Ocelots were a huge hit! They were the first cats we saw of the day...

Beautiful parrots...

A close encounter with a cheetah (unfortunately, the lions weren't out, they seem to be a bit picky about weather conditions...)

Feeding the giraffes, definitely a highlight of the trip!

Check out that tongue!

The elephants in their beautiful enclosure.

Now it's time for the rhinos to have a new home!

Jacob loved the llamas! Some of his favorite books are the "Llama llama" books!

The monkeys were a big hit!

Jacob was so sad when we headed out of the zoo! Luckily it was nothing a good lolly couldn't fix and the promise of lunch at McDonald's with his friends!
