Sports Camp

Jacob had a blast attending sports camp at the club this past week.  The camp ran from 10-2 which gave Jonah and I some much needed one on one time together!  Jacob learned how to play golf and tennis, then ate lunch at the pool and had swim time with friends.  He loved it and looked forward to each and every day!!

Excited for his first day of sports camp!  He's growing up so fast!!

Enjoying some pool time with friends!

No day at the pool is complete without snacks!

Ready for day 2

Jacob loved spending time with these two sweet boys!

Finally Summer!!!

Last week was technically the first week of summer.  But, because of Jacob's procedure on Monday and training I had all day Wednesday, Thursday and Friday it sure didn't feel like it!  Jacob is finally starting to feel a little better so we made the most of the morning together and spent it outside.  The sun was mostly behind the clouds and there was a nice breeze, which we enjoyed!  We'll definitely be wishing for this kind of weather in a month or so and our temperatures are in the triple digits!

Finally able to enjoy his new playset!

This boy loves playing in his sandbox!

And swinging!

Enjoying a popsicle treat!

There's nothing better than eating lunch outside!

Adios, Tonsils!

Summer break certainly started with a "Bang!" when Jacob had his tonsils removed on Monday morning.  He was actually really excited about it because (1) he remembered having strep throat SIX times this school year and (2) he got to be pampered and eat as many popsicles as he wanted.  Well...his opinion changed after the procedure!  Jacob has never been one to complain when he's sick, so when we were walked back to post-op and heard the sobs coming from behind the curtain, I knew this little guy was in some serious pain.  It took him a while to calm down because he was certainly scared and in lots of pain.  We were able to get him more medicine and get him to fall asleep but then his oxygen level dipped a bit too low and he needed the oxygen mask nearby.  He was wheeled back to a recover room and we waited there about 3-4 hours until we could get his pain under control and he could drink at least 4-6 oz.

We got home and he fell asleep, which I think helped.  But, the fun was just about to begin.  The pain was pretty terrible which meant he didn't want to drink or take his medicine.  We finally got him to bed but woke up at 1:30 to terrible wails.  More meds and Gatorade and back to bed until his next dose at 5:30.  We all woke up around 8:45 and the day has been pretty good.  Lots of Gatorade (he's drinking it in 1 oz increments) and rest.  So far, he hasn't wanted to eat anything and we keep tempting him with popsicles and slushes.  Hopefully by tomorrow he'll feel up to it.  For now, we'll stick to movies and lots of cuddles!

Shortly after the "silly juice" which made him sleepy before the procedure

Jonah wanted in on the cuddles!!

The End of Kindergarten

A few weeks ago, Nathan and I attended the End of the Year Celebration for Jacob's Kindergarten class.  It's hard to believe the year is already over!  Jacob has grown so much this year and has developed such a love of learning!!  I am so proud of the little boy that he is growing to be and so thankful I get to have him at school with me every day!

The Kindergarteners started off by singing two adorable songs.  We were originally seated to the far right and couldn't see Jacob, so we had to move to take pictures!

He did so great, especially since he had been out sick the week prior!  I love watching this guy sing (top row of course)!

Ready for his walk across the stage!

A congratulatory hand shake from his teacher, Mrs. Sullivan

Jacob was so excited the last week of school.  Excited for the summer, and excited to officially be a first grader!  He had such a wonderful year with Mrs. Sullivan and I'm definitely a little sad that it has gone by so quickly!

My big boy ready to walk down to the Kindergarten pod for the last time!!
