This and That

This year we decided to decorate for Christmas a little earlier than usual.  The boys and I had the entire week of Thanksgiving off, so it just made sense to start at the beginning of the week!  The boys loved to help!

We enjoyed an impromptu visit to Panera Bread with Poppa on a particularly cold day when we got locked out of the house and our car and he came to save us!

Jonah loved playing on Mim's piano while we hung out at Mim and Poppa's house the day we got locked out.  Daddy was traveling and didn't get home until late afternoon so we enjoyed some unplanned time with Poppa!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

This silly boy makes us giggle every single day!

The morning after Thanksgiving, our Elf, Seamus, visited us and we celebrated with a donut breakfast!  Yum!

Hanging his new Lego ornament on the Christmas tree

Cuddles under the tree!  Now we just need to keep all of the ornaments safe from Jonah!

Sweet brothers exploring Jacob's Lego book together.  These moments really melt my heart!

Happy Halloween!

We enjoyed a low key Halloween, just going around our neighborhood with our neighbors.  Jacob loved being surrounded by girls and had a blast gathering candy!  The night was perfect, with a little chill in the air and Jonah even enjoyed his wagon ride.  Both boys were exhausted and happy when we returned home and Jacob couldn't stop saying how it was the best Halloween night ever!!

Baby Yoda wasn't so sure at first...

Pumpkin Carving 2013

Well, strep throat has struck again and Jacob was home from school today and will be tomorrow as well.  We're hoping with 24 hours of antibiotics in his system he'll be okay to trick-or-treat tomorrow evening!

Luckily, strep throat hasn't totally ruined our fall fun!  After waiting patiently for many weeks, it was time to finally carve our pumpkin (affectionately named Tim).

Both boys had a blast helping out and were excited to see him all lit up!

Jonah was so excited to be in on the fun!!

Getting ready to scoop out the pumpkin guts

Excited for a new friend!

Jacob drew a picture of what he wanted Tim to look like and Nathan followed it exactly!

Happy Birthday Grandmommy

It's hard to believe it's been a little over five years since we lost Grandmommy.  Jacob was only 8 months old when she passed away and I still find myself get sad every time he does something or says something I know she would get a kick out of.  It's also hard to believe that she's never met Jonah.  I know for a fact that she would get such joy out of these two sweet boys.

Jacob has been asking about her more and more. It's extremely important to us that we keep her memory alive and keep her a part of the boys' lives.  We have a few pictures of her with baby Jacob and tell him over and over how much she loved him.  He asks about her in heaven and if she's watching over him.  I know it sounds silly, or even ridiculous, but there have been times that I've really truly believed she was here.  The boys are so lucky to have amazing grandparents, but I will always be sad for them that she's not around.

We made a special point to really talk up Grandmommy's birthday this year.  Jacob had the idea to release balloons for her in heaven.  Unfortunately, the weather and a little thing called Strep Throat had different ideas.  Next year, we'll definitely have to send balloons to Grandmommy in heaven on her birthday.

The morning Jacob was born, Grandaddy and Grandmommy came to the hospital at 6am with donuts and coffee as we all waited for him to arrive.  This was taken just a little after he came!
