Daddy's Little Painting Buddy
The past few weeks have been spent cleaning and organizing the new nursery. For the first several years we were in the house, the middle room served as a second guest room but when Jacob moved into big boy furniture, we needed a place to store the nursery furniture. Over the past year or so, more and more things had been stored in the room until it became full!
It took us many days over the break and days since then to get it all out and decide what would stay and what would go. Once that was done, it was time to paint and think about how we are going to decorate!
Since we had a long three day weekend, Nathan decided to go ahead and get the painting done. It started with a nice coat of primer on Saturday, which Jacob was a big help with! He loved wearing daddy's shirt and helping in such an important task! On Sunday, we painted each wall with a small sample of the paint and watched it through the day to see how the light would change. When we were sure it was the right shade (blue, for some reason, is tough!), Nathan painted two coats.
The nursery is now painted a pale blue- "Ocean Breeze" (very fitting for the nautical themed room!) and we're ready to start the fun part, decorating!!!
More pictures will definitely follow as we continue to add to the room. We still have three months until the baby's arrival but with work and being a mommy, I know time will fly by!

Luckily for Nathan, Jacob got a bit tired after a bit (just in time for Nathan to get on the ladder and finish up!)

Happy New Year!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! The past two weeks have absolutely flown by and I can't believe I'll be going back to work on Monday (Nathan and Jacob get one more day of vacation!).
We started the break with a short trip to the lake to have Christmas with the Coxes. Jacob always loves visiting the lake because there is lots of room to run around and ride his bike! Nathan worked the following week (with the exception of Jacob's birthday) so Jake and I spent time at home playing, baking and having fun with friends. Of course, we spent Christmas Eve with my parents and then enjoyed the quiet morning at home (also trying to recover from a terrible cold that has seemed to last the entire break!). In the afternoon, we headed to my parent's house to have Christmas with the Finkelstein family, everyone was in town this year including my sister and her family and it was just so fun to get all six cousins together! Nathan took this past week off and we had a great time as a family! He went on a short trip to San Antonio for the Alamo Bowl and Jacob and I enjoyed some time just the two of us!
All in all, it has been a wonderful holiday season for the Cox household! We are so looking forward to ringing in the New Year with some dear friends tonight and welcoming 2012, which will be so exciting! We hope you have a wonderful time celebrating tonight and that your new year is filled with lots of fun!

Happy Birthday Jacob!!
To celebrate Jacob's 4th birthday we decided to visit ICE at the Gaylord Texan. This year's theme was Shrek the Halls, so we knew Jacob would really enjoy it! The drive to the Gaylord wasn't bad, but the lines were outrageous to just get in to the experience!! We first lined up to had over our tickets, then wound around to enter the ICE theater where they showed a brief film about how the exhibit was constructed. Then, following the film we lined up to receive our parkas to wear (it's a chilly 9 degrees!) and were on our way to the final line to actually enter! Jacob (all of us, really) were getting a bit cranky at that point and were ready for the fun to begin!
While there were a lot of people, and it was a bit chaotic at times, we all really enjoyed it and had a great morning celebrating Jacob's birthday! When we were finished at ICE, we looked around the main area at the Gaylord, which was decorated beautifully and then headed home for a delicious birthday lunch at Los Charros! It truly was a fun day and we just can't believe that our little boy is four years old!!

At the end of the Shrek portion of ICE, there was an entire manger scene set up with the story of the first Christmas playing in the background. Had it not been for the crowds, we could have stayed here quite a long time enjoying the majesty of the beautiful ice sculptures that celebrate the birth of our Lord.
