Happy 6 Month Birthday!

When I woke up this morning, I could hardly believe that six months ago, Jacob had just come into our lives. It feels like he's been here all along, yet he has changed so very much!

Jacob had a very fun and relaxing birthday, lots of play time with mom and dad (after the obligatory photo shoot, of course!). He continues to grow each and every day into such a fun, happy, silly little boy. We absolutely love seeing more and more of his personality come through and it's just shocking that he's not a helpless little infant any more!

Happy boy!

In the afternoon, Jacob tried out his new pool. He wasn't so sure at first (especially because the water was a bit chilly!) but got used to it after a few minutes. Each day he grows stronger and is able to sit up on his own a little longer, but after a while in the pool, he had had enough!

New Diapers!

Tonight, Jacob is doing a little test run of his new cloth diapers, the Bum Genius 3.0. We are wanting to switch to cloth full time, but decided it was best to try them out first. About a week ago, Jacob became a tummy sleeper, which started causing leaks out of his diapers and middle of the night changings. We are hoping that the absorbant cloth will remedy this situation.

As I write this, I notice that perhaps the cloth diapers have solved our problem, just not in the way we expected. The diaper seems to be a bit bulky (which is normal), but bulky enough to make our little one not be able to roll to his tummy as easily as before! Instead of rolling over a mere few minutes after being laid down, Jacob has fallen asleep on his back and is out like a light!!

I'm sure we'll keep you all updated as we become cloth diapering "pros"!

Does this make my butt look big???

Jacob loves the masculine color choice!

In a moment of defeat, Jacob resigns to sleeping on his back tonight!

Father's Day Weekend

Sportin' daddy's hat in honor of his beloved team, the Rangers

What a busy weekend! Unfortunately, Daddy had to work on Friday (boo!) but Jacob and Mommy had a nice time together. We went over to Mim and Poppa's house where Jacob hung out with Poppa while Mim and Mommy did some running around. Jacob just loves his Poppa!

Jacob couldn't wait to get in Mim and Poppa's pool on Saturday while we celebrated Father's Day with Courtney's side of the family. He loved "swimming" around, splashing, and playing with his cousins.

"Put me down, and let me swim already!"

"Hey, where'd you get your cool swim outfit?"

"Higher Poppa, higher!!!"

After church on Sunday, we celebrated Father's Day with Nathan's side of the family and had the opportunity to get in the pool again. Jacob is becoming quite the little fish! He had a good time hanging out with his Uncle Davis and Aunt Amanda, in town from New York, and Daddy's cousins Jennifer and John. By the end of the day, he was a very tired little boy and couldn't wait to get a good night's sleep in his comfy crib.

Swim time with Daddy!

With cousin Kaya and Grandaddy.

Right after his bottle. Jacob just loves when Grandmommy feeds him!!

Welcome Cousin Levi!!

On June 3rd, Jacob welcomed his cousin Levi Declan Blair. Levi is Jacob's fifth boy cousin on Mommy's side of the family and Jacob is just so happy to not be the littlest one anymore!!
Jacob loves getting pictures of baby Levi along with his big brother, Sam, and hear about all the things he's up to. We don't know when they'll meet, but we hope it's soon!

Levi, one day old.

Sophie la Giraffe

As we were searching for teething toys a few months ago, I came across a giraffe that got rave reviews. Jacob liked "Sophie" from the get go, but it wasn't until very recently that his face actually lit up whenever he saw the rubber toy! She has definitely become a fixture in our household and a great toy to keep him happy and occupied.

Our friend, Sophie la Giraffe

This is the first time in his (almost) six month life that a toy can make Jacob so happy! Until now, it was only Mommy and Daddy that really made him laugh and smile. (Mommy's holding Sophie near the camera, Jacob says "Come to me, my squeeky toy!")

As you can see, Sophie is never far away!!

Home Sweet Home

Today was Jacob and Mommy's first day to spend together at home since Mommy retired from teaching. It was such a wonderful day, we can't wait for the many more to come!!

Jacob was so excited to be able to sleep in (and not woken up by Mommy and Daddy at 6:30!) and stay in his jams at home!!

He just looooves taking naps in his very own crib!

Now that Jacob is home with Mommy during the day, he can eat his yummy rice cereal in the mornings instead of the evenings, like he was doing before.
Jacob's favorite toy right now is his Rainforest Jumperoo. He was so excited to have more time to play in it today!!

Memorial Day Weekend

Jacob had a busy Memorial Day weekend. On Friday, we had a fun time at home since Mom had the day off from school. We went to lunch with Grandmommy and Granddaddy. Afterwards, we relaxed at their house and had some ice cream from our favorite ice cream store, Milwaukee Joe's. When we got home, we had a nice relaxing evening at home.

Saturday was a busy day! Dad was helping his friend Caleb move into his new house, so Mom and Jacob went on a trip to Target to pick up a few things. Saturday afternon was a nice time for naps and hanging out. For dinner Jacob got to eat Rice Cereal for the first time! He wasn't so sure about it at first, as you can see. We think that he started to get the hang of it after a little practice though.

Sunday was a fun day of going to church and then to Mim and Poppa's house for lunch. Mom's Uncle Mark was in town, so we had a good time visiting with him. When we got home, we had lots of play time and more practice with the rice cereal. He definitely started to get the hang of it and seemed to enjoy it.

Monday was a fun afternoon too. We went to Uncle Andy and Aunt Catherine's house for lunch to celebrate her birthday. Jacob had fun hanging out with everyone and playing with his cousins Drew, Ben, and Brady.
