What Have We Been Up To??

Well, the last few weeks have been absolutely crazy!  I honestly can't believe that it's already September and that we're getting back into the swing of things!
I went back to work in mid August but was lucky enough to have Nathan home from work for the first week and a half, taking care of the boys!  They both started back to school on the 27th (the same day our kids came back from summer break!) and we've just been keeping our heads above water since then!!  Jacob is in Junior Kindergarten and absolutely loves his two teachers!  One is a former school counselor and 4th grade teacher and the other is a former 1st grade teacher!  He loves going to school each day and has a blast.  I am so relieved that he's adjusting to being back to school, especially since he's been out for about 4 months!  It's wild to think that he'll be at school with me next year!  Jonah has also adjusted really well to school.  He has two sweet, sweet teachers that dote on him!  I can tell that he's really happy there and enjoys interacting with the other babies.  We're still trying to get him adjusted to sleeping better at school, right now he's only sleeping in thirty minute spurts.  It makes it difficult because we get home and all he wants to do is sleep, whereas all I want to do is play with him!  Being back at work after approximately five months off has definitely been exhausting!  I love teaching second grade and I love my new team, so that makes it much easier!
Jacob started t-ball a few weeks ago and has really enjoyed his practices.  His first game is Friday night and he can't wait to wear his uniform!  He's on the Rangers, which makes it even better!  He also starts preschool choir at church this week, so we're definitely staying busy after school!
We are all really looking forward to the cooler weather and all the fun things Fall brings!!!

4 Month Stats

Jonah had his four month appointment on Monday and was a champ!  Jacob was a great big brother and helped calm Jonah and make him laugh after his shots.  After the appointment, Jonah mostly slept and we cuddled a lot!!!

Weight: 15lbs 9oz (62%)
Height: 25 1/2 in (68%)
Head Circum: 16 3/4in (56%)

Dr. Frank was very pleased with Jonah's growth as well as his head control, focus, and strength!  He is definitely a busy little boy and I tell everyone that he really wants to be older than he actually is.  Tummy time is pretty much non-existent because as soon as I put him down, he rolls over.  He doesn't really enjoy laying on his back to play, he'd much rather be sitting up or standing (with assistance, of course).  We got the go-ahead and begin cereal since he's nice and chubby (we're also hoping it'll help with his acid reflux) and he is allowed to be in the pool for 30-45 minutes at a time!  On a sad note, summer is coming to an end and I go back to work tomorrow.  Luckily, Nathan is taking the next week and a half off so the boys will both go back to school on the 27th.  It's tough to think that I'm not going to be with my boys all day, every day but I feel so blessed to love my job (and have a job!) and also have a job that allows me to spend pretty much all afternoon and evening with them!  Now it's just time for the cooler temps...

Four Months Old!

Today Jonah turned 4 months old!!  How does that happen?  He really is such a sweet, easy baby and we are truly blessed.  He absolutely adores his big brother and I can honestly say that the feeling is mutual.  Jacob has been so great and I am just one proud mamma!  We go to the doctor on Monday for Jonah's 4 month well visit and I'm anxious to see how big he's gotten!  He is up to 6 oz every 4 hours and I just ordered size 2 diapers!

Happy boy!

Jumperoo

Jonah tried the jumperoo (one of Jacob's faves!) for the first time yesterday!  He absolutely loved sitting upright and being able to look around, but he's still on the small side so we ended up putting a pillow under his feet!  When Jacob was little, he had the best time jumping around and playing.  I think Jonah will enjoy it just as much!  Now we just need to find a place to put it...

Our Brave Boy

After dropping off Jonah at Mim and Poppa's house, we headed to Children's Hospital on Friday morning for Jacob to have an outpatient procedure.  We arrived at 10:15 and headed to our pre-op room, where a fireman hat, hot wheels, a drawing board and crayons were waiting.  Jacob got changed into special "pjs" and we waited.  The procedure was supposed to begin at 11:45, but he didn't go back into the operating room until almost 12:30.  Jacob was a trooper!  We explained (as much as you can to a four year old) what would happen and that he couldn't eat until afterwards.  We were expecting more of a fight about not eating, but Jacob did great!  After Jacob was wheeled off, Nathan and I had a bite to eat (we hadn't eaten either, out of solidarity!) and pretty soon, we were asked to go back to the consultation room to talk with the doctor.  The procedure took about an hour and Jacob did great!  When we met up with him on the way to recovery, he was already chowing down on the first of two popsicles!  The first thing he said was, "Hi Mommy!  Why didn't I fall asleep?".  He knew they would give him medicine to take "a nap" but couldn't even remember!  Finally, around 3 o'clock we left the hospital (in a wagon, of course) and headed to pick up Jonah.  We spent the rest of the day watching movies, but honestly, if you didn't know Jacob had just had surgery, you wouldn't even guess it!  He was in great spirits and not complaining at all!  He can't bathe until tomorrow, can't swim until next Friday and can't do any strenuous playing for 2-3 weeks.  That should be fun.

Jacob in his cozy "pajamas", coloring!

Playing on mommy's iPod.

Still a little loopy in recovery with his popsicle!
