Valentine Tree

Jacob spent the day with Mim decorating heart cookies, making Valentine snack mix and even making "Valentines"! Jacob was most excited, of course, to bring home his very own Valentine tree that is complete with tiny red ornaments, heart garland, and frosted cookies! Lucky for us, he doesn't like sugar cookies so I know they are safe in his room (especially after a good coat of shellac!). We've had a fun time decorating the house and getting the goody bags ready for Valentine's Day and now he has a little bit of decoration in his very own room!

A Work in Progress

Well, the storage is cleared out, the walls are painted (Ocean Breeze) and a few touches are finally making their way into Jonah's new nursery. Last weekend, we got the new roman shades from PBK up, the navy cubbies built and filled with all things baby! Now the fun really begins. I can't wait to buy the bedding and start having fun with all the colorful nautical accessories! Jacob absolutely loves baby Jonah's room and often opens the door to check on it while walking to his own room. Hard to believe another little boy will be living here in three months time!!!

Monday Afternoon Fun

We have a very busy week and weekend ahead and since today is one of the few quiet afternoons, Jacob and I decided to enjoy some good 'ole Playdoh! I just love coming home from school and enjoying my afternoon with my favorite little guy. Today included lots of cuddles and reading from some new books as well! The perfect way to spend an afternoon.

Daddy's Little Painting Buddy

The past few weeks have been spent cleaning and organizing the new nursery. For the first several years we were in the house, the middle room served as a second guest room but when Jacob moved into big boy furniture, we needed a place to store the nursery furniture. Over the past year or so, more and more things had been stored in the room until it became full!

It took us many days over the break and days since then to get it all out and decide what would stay and what would go. Once that was done, it was time to paint and think about how we are going to decorate!

Since we had a long three day weekend, Nathan decided to go ahead and get the painting done. It started with a nice coat of primer on Saturday, which Jacob was a big help with! He loved wearing daddy's shirt and helping in such an important task! On Sunday, we painted each wall with a small sample of the paint and watched it through the day to see how the light would change. When we were sure it was the right shade (blue, for some reason, is tough!), Nathan painted two coats.

The nursery is now painted a pale blue- "Ocean Breeze" (very fitting for the nautical themed room!) and we're ready to start the fun part, decorating!!!

More pictures will definitely follow as we continue to add to the room. We still have three months until the baby's arrival but with work and being a mommy, I know time will fly by!

Ready to paint!

Luckily for Nathan, Jacob got a bit tired after a bit (just in time for Nathan to get on the ladder and finish up!)

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! The past two weeks have absolutely flown by and I can't believe I'll be going back to work on Monday (Nathan and Jacob get one more day of vacation!).

We started the break with a short trip to the lake to have Christmas with the Coxes. Jacob always loves visiting the lake because there is lots of room to run around and ride his bike! Nathan worked the following week (with the exception of Jacob's birthday) so Jake and I spent time at home playing, baking and having fun with friends. Of course, we spent Christmas Eve with my parents and then enjoyed the quiet morning at home (also trying to recover from a terrible cold that has seemed to last the entire break!). In the afternoon, we headed to my parent's house to have Christmas with the Finkelstein family, everyone was in town this year including my sister and her family and it was just so fun to get all six cousins together! Nathan took this past week off and we had a great time as a family! He went on a short trip to San Antonio for the Alamo Bowl and Jacob and I enjoyed some time just the two of us!

All in all, it has been a wonderful holiday season for the Cox household! We are so looking forward to ringing in the New Year with some dear friends tonight and welcoming 2012, which will be so exciting! We hope you have a wonderful time celebrating tonight and that your new year is filled with lots of fun!

I couldn't resist re-posting these adorable pictures of Jacob from a few years ago!
