Root for the Home Team!
Friday night, we took Jacob to his very first Rangers game with Grandaddy. It was the perfect set up, with a parking pass located near the ballpark and great seats with plenty of space to spread out. The first 20 minutes were warm and sunny, but as soon as the sun went down past the ballpark, the weather was perfect! We enjoyed a great evening root, root, rooting for the home team!!

Slip n' Slide
Earlier this week, Jacob had a playdate with his good friends PJ and Katelyn. They enjoyed the morning outside playing in the bounce house, pool, and most importantly the slip n' slide! Jacob wasn't so sure at first (surprise, surprise) but with a little help from Kelly, he couldn't get enough of it! I have to say, the kids' facial expressions were absolutely priceless!

Zoo Party
Yesterday we celebrated cousin Brady's 3rd birthday at the Dallas Zoo. We got up bright and early to beat the heat and had a great time exploring the zoo with our family!
After breakfast, the kids enjoyed an Animal Encounter. One of the staff members came to the party room with a hedgehog and giant bunny to teach the kids about the animals and let them pet the animals. Jacob wasn't so sure at first, but mustered up enough courage to go with Poppa and pet the bunny.

Next, it was time for presents and cake! Now that Jacob is getting a little older, he understands the concepts of birthdays and presents much more. While this makes celebrations much more fun, the one thing he doesn't quite understand (and doesn't enjoy) is that the birthday boy receives the presents, not him! Luckily, we got some good ideas to add to his birthday/Christmas wish list!!
The birthday boy!
Since he's such a picky eater (he wouldn't even touch the cake!), Jacob spent his time playing with all of the fun zoo animal figurines. It kept his occupied until it was time to go explore the zoo!
Jacob and Brady loved riding in the wagon together and talking about all the interesting things they saw at the zoo!
Because it was already getting hot outside, we decided to focus on one area of the zoo. The Wilds of the Savanna recently opened and we hadn't had the opportunity to see the new area for the elephants, giraffes, and lions. These are some of Jacob's favorite animals and we knew he'd enjoy this section of the zoo most!

A Little Quiet Time
The Wiggles
One of Jacob's favorite music groups is The Wiggles. I know, I know, they can seem a bit grating and a lot of parents can't stand them. Nathan and I have been "fans" of The Wiggles for years because my nephews all adored them and frankly, we thought they weren't half bad. I'll take them over some of the other junk out there any day. How can you resist their thick Australian accents??
When we learned, many months ago, that they would be coming the area, we knew we would have to get tickets. Jacob enjoyed Sesame Street Live so much and we just knew it would be well worth the money and time to go see the show. Luckily, we were able to rope in some dear friends of ours, so we weren't alone!
Of course, as luck would have it, there was a torrential downpour on Friday evening and we all got good and soaked before finding our seats in the chilly theater. All of the frustration and discomfort disappeared as soon as The Wiggles entered the stage and we thoroughly enjoyed the hour and a half show. Jacob spent much of the show up dancing and truly seemed to be having fun!!
Throughout the course of the show, several cast members make their way through the audience so Jacob was able to see them up close and personal. He was even able to give Murray a rose for Dorothy the Dinosaur (didn't you know that dinosaurs eat red roses???) and I now think he's my favorite. Unfortunately, I didn't get a good picture because it was so darned dark in there, but Murray actually took the time to talk with Jacob and was just so sweet.
We got home quite late from the show, but it was definitely more than worth it! What a fun time and great memories!
