Arboretum

We spent a wonderful (although warm) morning at the Dallas Arboretum with Jacob's sweet friend PJ. It was so great to be able to spend some time outside and let the boys explore nature!

Jacob and PJ are ready for a morning of fun!
Our first stop was the small petting zoo that was set up. There were sheep, goats, chickens, and even a pony! Jacob enjoyed brushing the pony, but when a sheep came up behind him and nudged him gently out of the way, he was done!

Next up was a little building that was covered with flowers and housed ducks. Jacob absolutely loved running around to each doorway to get a better glimpse of the ducks and I'm convinced that he would have been perfectly happy staying there all day!

Near the ducks, we noticed some mice. Jacob enjoyed watching them run on their wheel and enjoying a little snack!
Jacob loved running around the Arboretum and especially loved smelling all the flowers!

Purple ones...

pink ones...

and yellow ones!
Before lunch, we let the boys run around in a grassy area to burn off some energy. It certainly got them ready for a yummy lunch!

Picture time!

A small pioneer area was set up near where we had lunch and Jacob particularly enjoyed the covered wagon!

Ready to eat!

Thank you so much to PJ and his mommy, Kelly, for inviting us to the Arboretum this morning! We had such a wonderful time!!!

Mother's Day Art

I had a fabulous Mother's Day complete with a wonderful morning at church, a quiet and relaxing afternoon, and a fun evening with family. I couldn't ask for more!!

Jacob made this special art project for me at Mother's Day Out this week. It says:
My Mommy is FUN!,
I love mommy because she reads me books,
I love my mommy's kisses,
Mommy dances with me!,
I love my mommy because she gives me veggie puffs,
I love my mommy because she plays tractors with me.
It was such a sweet surprise from my little boy!!

Derby Party

Jacob attended his very first Kentucky Derby party on Saturday. Because daddy's family is from Kentucky, it's a very big deal around here! We went over to Jennifer and Ed's house to enjoy delicious food and great fun watching the big race!

The table was full of traditional foods such as cheese grits, benedictine, bourbon balls, and ham and biscuits. Dessert was delicious Derby Pie, which is simply the best!

Jacob watching intently as the horses raced, cheering on his own pick to win!

Jacob's horse won and he received a prize!

Of course, no Derby party is complete without a hat!

Now it's time to try on Jennifer's hat! I think he actually liked this one better!

Jacob and our two wonderful hosts. We had such a great time and look forward to next year!

Party Time!

This morning we had the chance to enjoy the beautiful Spring weather as we celebrated Jacob's friend Joey's first birthday! Many of Jacob's classmates from Mother's Day Out were present, so it was lots of good fun and a great way to spend the morning.

Joey's parents had rented a bounce house for the party and Jacob just cannot pass up a good bounce house!

Playing in Joey's big sister Anna's house

I think Jacob enjoyed the birthday gifts just as much as the birthday boy did!

Having a grand 'ole time in the sandbox

Happy Birthday, Joey! We're so excited we got to celebrate with you!
