Trip to the Zoo

On Friday, we braved the heat to visit the Dallas Zoo for the very first time. It was such a fun trip because Jacob got to go with his cousins! Mim and Poppa were taking care of Drew and Ben for the weekend while Sam and Levi are visiting for several weeks. The boys looked so adorable in their matching shirts and we got many compliments throughout the day!

Jacob is in that weird stage where he needs to be in his stroller because he's too little to walk all that distance and too heavy to hold the entire day. But, he's old enough that he wants to actually see and watch the animals, which can be difficult from his stroller. So, it was a day of in and out, in and out! We had so much fun seeing animals we've been reading about, especially the giraffes, elephants, tigers, and gorillas!

By lunch time, the weather was heating up (we were smart and arrived soon after the zoo opened at nine) and it was time for the drive home! Jacob and Levi fell asleep almost instantly, they were exhausted and frankly, so were we!!!

Cousins 1-6 (unfortunately, we were missing #4!)

Levi and Jacob enjoying the children's zoo from the comfort of their strollers!
I think Jake could have stayed on this butterfly seat for hours!
After seeing live gorillas, the boys got to hang out with the statues.

Watching one of the trainers with a chimp, they even got to help out!
The end of a long day, getting a ride from Poppa. I bet it was much cooler up there!

Jacob the Builder

If you read the "Favorite Things" post a while back, you probably noticed the huge bag of blocks Jacob recently got. These have become (along with any sort of truck) an obsession for him! As soon as he gets in the playroom he goes right over to where the bag is kept, grabs the handle, and drags them to wherever I am! He can't quite get the zipper to work for him, so he still needs a little help! When he first got the blocks, he would just take out each one as he needed it, but as time has passed he started dumping out the entire bag to start building. He loves to sit and build and is just so content doing so.

Caught in the act-surrounded by blocks in his jams!

Building towers takes lots of concentration! (notice the laundry basket, one of this other faves!)

Busy Boy!

Every Thursday we head over to Jacob's cousins' house in Prosper for a playdate. This Thursday was particularly special because Sam and Levi were in town! It was so great to see all of the boys playing together and enjoying the morning and it gave Nikki, Catherine, and I a chance to catch up!

The bigger boys playing on the computer

Jacob just looooves this rocking horse! It reminds me of his jumperoo when he was little, he could stay in this all morning long, just bouncing away!

Playing with his new facination, trucks, in Drew and Ben's room

Now that the bigger boys are busy somewhere else, Jacob decides to try his hand at the computer!

Cookin' up something yummy in the kitchen

It is such a blessing to have cousins nearby that we get to play with each week. Jacob always has so much fun at their house, playing with toys he doesn't own. We are particularly blessed to be able to have Sam and Levi in town for the month and look forward to many more cousin playdates!!

Rainy Day Playdate

Jacob's friend Anna came over this morning for a splash day, but we ended up staying indoors because it's been rainy and overcast for the past two days. They had so much fun playing and I swear at one point had every toy in the gameroom out on the floor!

Anna's little brother, Joseph, also tagged along and is such a cutie! I can't believe I didn't get any pictures of the sweet little guy. He is such a good baby, I even tried my hand at holding an infant again! Of course, I was reminded of infancy when he spit up on me! Jacob seemed to really enjoy Joseph's gear and just helped himself to relaxing in the carseat and sucking on the binky, although he never took one himself!
Miss Anna Banana had a great time lounging in Jacob's car!

Taking a quiet break from all the playing- Jacob has recently rediscovered this toy, it was the last toy Grandmommy ever bought him. He has been playing with it every day lately and loves to rock and listen to the music!

Boys will be boys...

Happy Birthday Grandaddy!

Last night, Grandaddy and CiCi came over to celebrate Grandaddy's birthday. Jacob got so excited about the birthday banner and candles on the birthday cake! He loved spending time with Grandaddy and CiCi, eating pizza, playing, cuddling and his favorite pasttime, reading!!

Unfortunately, Jacob had to go to bed before enjoying a Cox Family classic, Ding Dong Cake. But, he was able to help sing to Grandaddy and blow out the birthday candles!!

In the Corner

Jacob spent the day Friday at Mim and Poppa's house swimming and playing. At one point in the day, he went missing and we couldn't find him anywhere! We searched Mim's room (he loves to play with the buttons on the printer or play with Poppa's money on the nightstand), the nursery (where his toys are), and even Poppa's study. The doors were all secure, so we knew he was somewhere! Just then, I heard a noise from the kitchen and walked in to find him sitting on the little booster seat Mim and Poppa keep in the corner of the breakfast nook. He was just as cozy as could be, looking out the window and relaxing! What a silly boy!!!
