Quarantined

Jacob has RSV. Oh, and double ear infections. Luckily, it's relatively minor and we caught it quickly but nevertheless, we are stuck at home for the next two weeks. Instead of music, playdates, and shopping our days consist of breathing treatments four times a day. Joy.

In honor of RSV, we thought we'd share a few facts courtesy of Web MD...

RSV Fun Fact #1: Respiratory syncytial virus infection, usually called RSV, is a lot like a bad cold. It causes the same symptoms. And like a cold, it is very common and very contagious. Most children have had it at least once by age 2.

RSV Fun Fact #2: Like a cold virus, RSV attacks your nose, eyes, throat, and lungs. It spreads like a cold too, when you cough, sneeze, or share food or drinks.

RSV Fun Fact #3 : When a person with RSV is otherwise healthy, symptoms usually get better in a week or two.

RSV Fun Fact #4: To help reduce your child's risk of respiratory problems, see that your child gets all of his or her vaccines, especially Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) and diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (DTaP).

RSV Fun Fact #5: Researchers are trying to develop a vaccine to prevent infection with RSV. Currently, no vaccine is available.

Jacob's New Game

Because it's been so long since the last post, I decided to treat you to a video! Any time we happen to be in the bathroom getting ready, Jacob plays this new game of his. It is definitely a little boy thing to do!

By the way, the hamper lid did finally make it into the bathtub as well!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Jacob was so excited to celebrate Valentine's Day that he started the day earlier at his friend Natalie's house. Natalie had a bunch of her friends over to play, eat, and do crafts. Jacob was so excited to see his friends and get in the holiday spirit!

Momma and Jacob ready to party!

Jacob and his friend, Beau, loved making shakers at the Valentine's party!!

What Jacob really wanted to do was eat the heart stickers, which Momma had to discourage!
After completing his shaker, Jacob moved on to the other craft of the morning, which was to make a hand print. This was only the second or third time he had attempted such a craft and was much more interested in playing with the paint on his hands

Tada! The finished product, which is now hanging proudly on the refrigerator.

Jacob with his friends Beau and Natalie
Jacob had such a fun time at his party that we decided to continue the celebration and give him his Valentine's Day gift a day early. We have noticed lately that Jacob has a love of giraffes. Perhaps it all started with his friend Sophie (some of you may remember her!) but now if a toy includes a giraffe (be it a puzzle, ark, or toy at church), it is almost always found in his hand! Momma found this unusual giraffe that is made in Germany and thought it'd be fun to tote around. Jacob was instantly drawn to it and loves flinging it around! That's a little boy for you!!

Fun with Friends

Saturday evening, we had dinner with Courtney's good friend Julie and her sweet little family. Jacob had so much fun playing with Anna, who will be two in June and exploring a new house!

Upon meeting the Spitzenberger's dogs, Jacob wasn't so sure. They were super sweet and just wanted to give kisses, but it frightened Jacob a bit. He was much more fond of them once they were put outside!

Jacob absolutely adores his little piano he got from Santa for Christmas so we knew he'd love the real thing! He and Anna had such a great time playing a little duet for us!
Thanks to the Spitzenbergers for a fabulous evening!

Jacob's First Haircut

We took Jacob for his very first haircut today. Although Jacob is easy going, we weren't quite sure how he would react to his new surroundings. Our fears were quickly banished as soon as we put Jacob in the red sports car! He absolutely loved the entire event, playing in the car, getting his hair trimmed, and watching himself in the mirror! While there isn't a huge difference in his hair, he certainly looks more like a little boy now!

The before shot

Ready to take off!

"This feels great!"
Look at that handsome boy!
